New Client Process

Our business does not require our clients know development or theory, but it helps both parties when they understand our process. In order to effectively create solutions for your business, we must first understand your project goals. The goals are documented by asking the "what, why and how" questions for the overall goal of the project. The overall goal will spawn many smaller goals. The answers to these questions will spawn an addtional round of questions. It is through this process we learn about and document your needs. Our success as consultants will be judged against these goals.

WHAT does your business need?

The answer defines "the project" at a high level.

WHY do you want to do this project?

The answer to this question often gives us insight that would not be recieved from simply asking "What project does your business need?". For example: A client may simply answer by saying "We need a website on a limited budget." If we stopped the process here, the goals of the new website would not be easily understood. So we ask, "Why do want a new website?". If the answer is "To get new clients", we have learned something valuable that will determine how we plan on spending the limited budget. If the answer is "To give information to our existing clients", the budget will be spent much differently.

HOW do you want to interact with the project?

This answer gives us an overview of the use cases. For example: A client has several lists of existing customers in excel format an wants it all in a searchable database. That can be done... but how will they access the database? Through the Internet? Intranet? In Microsoft Access? Through their existing website? Another example would be: A client wants to have a website to gather leads for their sales department. How do they want the sales department to get the leads? Email? A database accessable through the internet? Fax?

Once this process is completed, a requirements document can be created. It is this document that will be the blueprint for all work that is done.
